"HEY! JOHN BOTTOMLEY..."

Are you a John Bottomley? Have you ever wondered just how many of us can there possibly be out there? I have come to understand that "Bottomley" itself is a location name (valley or field by the ocean), so our surname's genesis on one finite spot on this world must be a limiting factor on our population.

And then there is the subset determined by random probability that you would be named "John". We are all related, even if distantly... do we look anything alike?

Let's be clear, this is all just for fun. I don't want anything. Anyone can look and enjoy the public pages. But... if you are a John Bottomley, I hope you will add yourself. I don't want to use the word "join", because there really isn't a club or organization of us.

There will be a place to network if you really feel the need. Share only whatever you are comforable in sharing. Nothing about you will be made visible if you don't want it to be seen.

World-Wide John Bottomley

Since we are all John Bottomley, it would probably help to make a nickname. I'm calling myself John Bottomley Prime, since I run the place. Call me 'Prime' for short if you want.

BEING JOHN BOTTOMLEY

The name had its downside early in life, it has the word 'bottom' in it to the delight of every schoolyard bully. Now that we are older, let's have some fun! Here are some ideas about how to prosper and have fun just for being John Bottomley!

  • March 25th is now John Bottomley Day! But don't expect a day off, I don't think a single governmental body will acknowledge it. There are three reasons for choosing March 25th.
         1. There aren't any huge holidays I can find on this date.
         2. It should be fairly warm weather for John Bottomleys in either Hemisphere.
         3. It is long enough after Saint Patrick's Day that if you want to lift a pint in celebration of being
John Bottomley, you should be recovered.

  • Travel trade! If you want to open your guestroom to a visiting John Bottomley, we have the world at our disposal. I know of John Bottomleys in Australia, London, Charlotte (me) and elsewhere. We can correspond between ourselves to find out if we get along before we allow someone into our home.

  • Get a JohnBottomley.com email! As long as you are not a spammer or a hate-mailer, I will set up an email account that will forward to whatever email you want. For example, you could have me@johnbottomley.com, meself@johnbottomley.com, hislordship@johnbottomley.com, londoner@johnbottomley.com... you get the idea! The only hitch is that it has to be available.

  • Bainstorm! Here is a good place for ideas.
